POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the execution of material requirements supply plans, purchase orders, material qualification co-ordination, vendor scheduling, vendor managed inventory, material release scheduling, selection and management of local vendors, inventory reporting and global inventory positioning within the Global Pharmaceutical Supply Group (GPSG). The person in this position will also be required to develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, master files, systems and processes for the Bio Bulk Planning organization to ensure the fluent supply of materials and products.

This position is integrated with other Centocor subsidiaries in the development, co-ordination and execution of local and global procurement and supply strategies. The position is a cross functional role within the CBIL organization communicating information on supply plans as well as having strong collaborative links within Centocor & GPSG.

GENERAL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Selection, approval and management of vendors for the supply of goods for CBIL and Centocor Subsidiaries. Develop and implement local vendor contracts and supply agreements. 
  • Develop, maintain and execute materials requirements, purchase and release plans for commercial and clinical products.
  • Procure materials to meet plant operational requirements. Create and maintain purchase orders and vendor schedule materials while ensuring efficient and effective purchasing & inventory practices and optimizing the balance between quality, service, reliability and price for each material. Ensure business continuity of supply of critical materials. 
  • Maintain material inventories within goal, while minimizing excess, obsolete and expired materials. Contribute to the global balancing of materials and supplies within GPSG. 
  • Prepare and publish inventory metrics and reports with a focused approach on lean continuous improvement. 
  • Co-ordination and completion of the supplier material qualification activities of materials to ensure the on-time qualification of CBIL materials to be used in the manufacturing operation.



QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL: 

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a supply chain management Planning and Purchasing environment
  • Minium of 3 years operational experience using SAP PP & MM application software.
  • Qualification in supply chain management (NITL/IPICS/IIPMM) or equivalent combination of experience and education. 
  • Experience of dealing with vendors and the scheduling of materials.

    DESIRABLE: 
  • Experience in Purchasing /Planning in a pharmaceutical environment or in a process industry. 
  • Experienced in the implementation, development and execution of business planning and control systems. 
  • SME in SAP PP & MM application software.
