Role / Responsibilities

• Responsibility for sourcing, negotiating supply for material requirements for New Product Development/R&D.
• Supporting existing R&D material requirements.
• Drive best practice purchasing, supplier ranking and cost management.
• Co-ordinate purchasing activity with a focus on vertical integration.
• Implement Vendor Specifications, Confidentiality Agreements and Supply Agreements.
• Maintaining database of relevant API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingriedients) information.
• Chair regular teleconferences, facilitating vendor meetings and arranging technical visits.
• Follow and implement correct procedure in order to comply with cGMP, Health & Safety, Environmental guidelines and Regulatory requirements.
• Support additional site based purchasing activity as required (incl. Capital Expenditure Requisitions, third parties and Non Material Master Items).
• Co-ordinate patent reviews to ensure zero patent challenges to selected API supplier at commercial launch stage.

Candidate Requirements

• Certification and/or a Bachelor's degree in Science/Engineering, Business/Purchasing preferred.
• Ideally 5 yrs experience in a similar role.
• Previous experience in the sourcing and purchasing API’s will be a distinct advantage.

Ideal Knowledge

• Solid dose, Inhalations and Steriles Pharmaceutical development requirements.
• Regulatory requirements within the Industry.
• cGMP.
• Commercial awareness / Purchasing skills.

Skills

• Computer Skills (MS Word, Excel, Power-point and Project).
• Experience of SAP or similar system an advantage.
• Project Management.
• Technical Report writing.
• Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
