A client of MRI, a leading Retail Organisation wishes to strengthen its management team through the appointment to the newly created role of

Purchasing Director

The Purchasing Director will report directly to the Director of Retailing

Principal Responsibilities include: 

  • Management of purchasing activities for the complete range of retail lines

  • Working closely with Marketing and Sales Operations to identify and evaluate alternatives to existing lines to improve consumer choice and range exclusivity

  • Set and achieve targets in key areas of cost reduction and supply base reduction while creating an effective and efficient function

  • Identify and implement process improvements in the supply chain

The successful candidate must have:

  • A strategic view of Purchasing and a clear understanding of its critical fit within an organisation supported by excellent Business and Financial Acumen

  • A strong sense of presence with excellent communication, presentation, influencing and negotiation skills combined with a demonstrable record of leadership and motivational successes

  • The ability to comfortably interface at Board and senior management level within the organisation and it’s client base

  • A good working knowledge of Business to Business and E-Commerce applications

  • A Results Driven background

  • An open and creative mindset

Candidates with less than five years buying experience at a senior level in a FMCG environment are unlikely to have the required profile

IIPMM membership together with relevant third level business qualifications would be advantageous

Rewards:
The salary and benefits package is designed to attract high calibre candidates and will be in the order of €80k p.a. together with a substantial performance related arrangement and usual benefits.
