Seminar: Effective Production Planning & MRP
Venue:    Red Cow Morans Hotel, Dublin
Date(s):  23rd - 24th February 2004

Course
Overview

The ability to plan effectively can have serious implications on the success or failure of an enterprise. Too often managers and staff get too engrossed in day to day operations and fail to dedicate sufficient time to planning. Planning effects every level of the organisation, from the business planning level through to detailed shop floor control. Maximising production output while minimising inventory investment is a key challenge in most organisations.

This course introduces the various stages of Production Planning and the relationship between each stage. Participants will learn the interdependencies of each stage and the importance of checking available capacities. Appropriate strategies for everyday application will be developed and the importance of and application of some basic Inventory Control techniques will be examined. Throughout the course references will be made to the application of MRP II at each stage of the planning process. The concepts of World Class Manufacturing will be discussed, particularly in relation to Just - in - Time and the application of Kanban systems. Emphasis will be placed on combining theory with practical applications therefore a combination of lectures, group discussions and exercises will be used.

This two day course is designed for those requiring a fuller understanding of the planning process and for those requiring a basic understanding of MRP II. It may be used as a catalyst to introducing new systems or as a means of improving upon an existing system.

Understanding
Supply Chain Event Management

One of the newest morsels on the tech industry's buffet of buzzwords is Supply Chain Event Management (SCEM). And though, in the past, enterprise software buyers seemingly displayed an insatiable appetite for the latest acronym, times have changed. A tighter economy and jaded IT community have analysts trying harder to define SCEM and corporate managers working diligently to understand whether or not they need it.

Unlike CRM and some other popular "techronyms," SCEM hasn't ballooned into an all-encompassing category of its own with blurry boundaries. Analysts appear to agree that MORE >
