Seminar: Effective Production Planning & MRP Venue: Holiday Inn - Dublin Airport Date(s): May 11th - 12th 2004 Course Overview The ability to plan effectively can have serious implications on the success or failure of an enterprise. Too often managers and staff get too engrossed in day to day operations and fail to dedicate sufficient time to planning. Planning effects every level of the organisation, from the business planning level through to detailed shop floor control. Maximising production output while minimising inventory investment is a key challenge in most organisations. This course introduces the various stages of Production Planning and the relationship between each stage. Participants will learn the interdependencies of each stage and the importance of checking available capacities. Appropriate strategies for everyday application will be developed and the importance of and application of some basic Inventory Control techniques will be examined. Throughout the course references will be made to the application of MRP II at each stage of the planning process. The concepts of World Class Manufacturing will be discussed, particularly in relation to Just - in - Time and the application of Kanban systems. Emphasis will be placed on combining theory with practical applications therefore a combination of lectures, group discussions and exercises will be used. This two day course is designed for those requiring a fuller understanding of the planning process and for those requiring a basic understanding of MRP II. It may be used as a catalyst to introducing new systems or as a means of improving upon an existing system. Course
