Increasing Production Efficiencies  { Book Here }

Course Outline:
At a time when the optimisation of efforts is paramount, the Association for Purchasing and Supply (APS) has designed an integrated workshop which focuses on measuring and increasing production efficiencies in a manufacturing environment. The course highlights the importance of people in achieving the results, developing their commitment and capabilities by taking ownership of key areas of improvement

People who should attend:
The course is designed for those wishing to discover real ways of increasing manufacturing performance by increasing production efficiencies. It is particularly applicable to those in a management position or in a position that can influence manufacturing strategy, however it will also suit any employee directly involved in the production process.

Course Objectives:
The first day of the two days workshop addresses simple methods of measuring production efficiencies in a machine controlled and a labour controlled manufacturing operation. Assessing current levels provides the benchmark to establish the improvement levels required. Focus then shifts to addressing potential strategies for increasing the efficiencies in a controlled and methodical manner.

Day two’s primary focus is on the potential application of the strategies to course participant’s own organisations. This is very much a hands on approach.

Course Content:

  • Measuring performance levels – Key Performance Indicators
  • The concepts of Waste Elimination and Total Quality Control and the importance of continuous improvement
  • Using the "Pull" system to schedule product
  • Identifying reasons for low productivity
  • Problem solving techniques
  • The role and benefits of Team Working and Empowerment
  • The role and importance of the Team Leader
  • Motivational strategies for individuals and groups
  • Innovative methods of Pay and Rewards
  • Group workshops to address course participants specific productivity challenges

Understanding
Supply Chain Event Management

One of the newest morsels on the tech industry's buffet of buzzwords is Supply Chain Event Management (SCEM). And though, in the past, enterprise software buyers seemingly displayed an insatiable appetite for the latest acronym, times have changed. A tighter economy and jaded IT community have analysts trying harder to define SCEM and corporate managers working diligently to understand whether or not they need it.

Unlike CRM and some other popular "techronyms," SCEM hasn't ballooned into an all-encompassing category of its own with blurry boundaries. Analysts appear to agree that MORE >
