Course Outline:
Planning effects every level of the organisation, from the business planning level through to detailed shop floor control. Maximising production output while minimising inventory investment is a key challenge in most organisations.

This course introduces the various stages of Production Planning and the relationship between each stage. Participants will learn the interdependencies of each stage and the importance of checking available capacities. Appropriate strategies for everyday application will be developed and the importance of and application of some basic Inventory Control techniques will be examined. Throughout the course references will be made to the application of MRP II at each stage of the planning process. The concepts of World Class Manufacturing will be discussed, particularly in relation to Just - in - Time and the application of Kanban systems.
